Prerequisites

  • A Discord account
  • Admin access to a Discord server (or permission to add bots)

Setup Steps

1

Create a Discord Application

Go to the Discord Developer Portal and click "New Application." Give it a name and click "Create."

https://discord.com/developers/applications
2

Create the Bot

In your application settings, go to the "Bot" section. Click "Reset Token" to generate a new bot token. Copy it immediately -- it won't be shown again.

3

Enable required intents

Still in the Bot section, scroll down to "Privileged Gateway Intents." Enable: Message Content Intent and Server Members Intent. These are required for your agent to read messages.

4

Generate invite URL

Go to OAuth2 > URL Generator. Select the "bot" scope. Under "Bot Permissions," select "Send Messages," "Read Message History," and "View Channels." Copy the generated URL.

5

Invite the bot to your server

Open the invite URL in your browser. Select the server you want to add the bot to and authorize it.

6

Configure in Hatcher

Go to your agent's Integrations tab. Select Discord, paste your bot token, and save.

Configure in Hatcher

Navigate to your agent's Integrations tab and fill in the following fields:

Bot Token
MTExNjE3...

The bot token from the Developer Portal

Testing

  1. 1Open your Discord server
  2. 2Check that the bot appears in the member list (may show as offline until the agent starts)
  3. 3Send a message mentioning the bot: @YourBot hello
  4. 4The agent should respond in the channel
  5. 5Check the Logs tab in Hatcher to verify
