Twitter / X

Advanced10 minPay-per-use

MAJOR CHANGE (January 2026): Fixed API tiers were removed. Twitter/X now uses Pay-Per-Use pricing only.

The Free tier is write-only (1,500 tweets/month). It CANNOT read tweets, mentions, or timelines.

To read tweets and mentions, you need Pay-Per-Use credits loaded in your developer account.

Prerequisites

  • An X (Twitter) account
  • X Developer Portal access
  • Pay-Per-Use credits for read access (optional for write-only)

Setup Steps

1

Access the Developer Portal

Go to the X Developer Portal and sign in. If you don't have developer access, apply for it.

https://developer.x.com/
2

Create a Project and App

Create a new Project, then create an App within it. Choose the appropriate environment (production or development).

3

Set app permissions

In your App Settings, set the app permissions to "Read and Write." This is required for your agent to both read mentions and post tweets.

4

Generate app credentials

Go to Keys and Tokens. Generate a Bearer Token for app-auth read/search actions. For posting and replies, also generate API Key, API Secret, Access Token, and Access Token Secret.

5

Load Pay-Per-Use credits (for read access)

If you want your agent to read mentions and timelines, go to the Billing section and load credits. Without credits, the free tier only allows posting tweets.

6

Configure in Hatcher

Go to your agent's Integrations tab. Select Twitter/X and enter the Bearer Token. Add OAuth1 keys too if the agent should post or reply.

Configure in Hatcher

Navigate to your agent's Integrations tab and fill in the following fields:

Bearer Token
AAAAAAAA...

Required for xurl app-auth read/search actions

OAuth2 Client ID / Secret
client-id / client-secret

Optional, registers the app with xurl for OAuth2 flows

OAuth1 API Key / Secret
xABC123... / xDEF456...

Optional for posting and reply actions

OAuth1 Access Token / Secret
12345-xGHI... / xJKL789...

Optional user-specific write credentials

Testing

  1. 1Post a test tweet by sending a command to your agent
  2. 2Check your Twitter profile to verify the tweet appeared
  3. 3If using read access, mention your bot account and verify it detects the mention
  4. 4Check the Logs tab in Hatcher for API call status
